The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms are happy to announce that Sam James has been signed as Netminder for the 2014/15 season as part of a 2-way deal with the Peterborough Islanders.

Peterborough born and trained, Sam spent the 2011/2012 season as a prospect player, training with the senior team, while continuing to play for the junior team.

Last season saw Sam gain further valuable ice time for the Peterborough Islanders while finishing his junior career with the Phantoms Under-18 side.

Speaking about the signing, Peterborough DALROD Phantoms Head Coach Slava Koulikov said: “Sam is a young goalie who will play with the Islanders and will practice with the DALROD Phantoms every week. Training with the Phantoms will give him a great opportunity to develop and definitely improve his game.

On his return to the Phantoms, Sam said: “Coach Koulikov contacted me as they were looking for a 3rd goalie for training and some games, and after watching the DALROD Phantoms growing up, there was no way I’d turn him down”.

He continued: “I always want to be the best and I want to play at the highest level, so I will take every opportunity as they come”.
