In a replay of last seasons Play-Off finals, the DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms traveled to face the Manchester Phoenix on Saturday evening. Just as in last seasons Championship game, the Phantoms came away with the victory by 5 goals to 2.

An evenly fought opening period saw the Phantoms take the lead on 13.34 when club Captain James Ferrara deflected Milan Baranyks shot past Stephen Fone in the Phoenix goal.

The visitors lead last for under 5 minutes as a prolonged period of Phoenix pressure ended with Michal Satek converting Robin Kovars pass to square the game going into the first break.

The middle stanza saw the Phantoms start to dominate the game, and Stephen Fone found himself called upon time after time as the Phantoms forwards swarmed around his net.

Craig Scott netted the go ahead goal on 24.29 when he came from behind the net to score on the backhand.

It was a 3-1 game 90 seconds later when Ales Padelek found a way past Fone. Will Weldon made it 4-1 to the Phantoms on 31:32, signalling Tony Hand to call a timeout to settle his shell shocked team.

Phoenix did pull a goal back from the face-off as Michal Satek scored his second on the rebound after a Kovar shot had initially been stopped by Janis Auzins.

The third period started with the Phantoms hitting penalty trouble, including a 10 minute Misconduct call on Will Weldon, but the home team were unable to capitalise on their numerical advantage.

The only goal of the period came from Phantoms Man of the Match Lloyd Gibson on 55:08 to make the final score 5-2 to the Phantoms.
