Tuesday will see Phantoms Cam McGiffin face off for the Great Britain Under 20’s against the Nottingham Lions, as part of Great Britain’s warm-up schedule for the IIHF World Championships. With Cam will be Phantoms Head Coach Slava Koulikov who was recently names as the Assistant Coach to the GB Under 20’s.

When Cam and Slava look across to the Lions bench, they will see a few familiar faces as 3 Phantoms will be guesting for the Nottingham NIHL Team.

The Nottingham Lions announced on Monday that Former Lions Marc Levers, Tom Norton and Will Weldon will make a return to their former home ice pad to boost the Lions ranks.

The trio are all former GB internationals themselves.

Levers iced for the Lions during the 2000/01 season and has had a glittering career in UK hockey, winning two Elite League titles, six Challenge Cups and three Elite League Play Off championships, during his time with the Panthers and the Belfast Giants.

Nottingham-born defenceman Norton spent four seasons with the Lions between 2006 and 2010. He then went on to be part be part of a Panthers squad that won a plethora of trophies between 2010 and 2014.

Weldon was involved with the successful Nottingham Junior programme from 2006-2011 picking up many accolades. Between 2009-2011 he played 47 times for the Lions scoring an average of a point per game during this time. As well as dressing with the Panthers a handful of times he has amassed over 200 games in the EPL with Peterborough.

Levers will be joined on the Lions team by his brother Netminder Alan Levers, whilst Kieran Raynor, who is a former member of the Phantoms Academy, will join Norton on the Blueline.

All tickets are priced at just £3 and can be purchased from the NIC box office Tuesday night, with all proceeds going to the Lions’ charity partner Special Olympics Nottinghamshire. Face off at the National Ice Centre is 7.30pm.
