The DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms claimed a point in Shropshire on Saturday evening against the Telford Tigers.

It was the Phantoms who controlled the opening 20 minutes with Sam Gospel kept the busier of the two netminders. Ales Padelek and Milan Baranyk had the best chances for the Phantoms but the game remained scoreless after the opening 20 minutes.

The middle period saw the Tigers up their game, as they looked to make the most of their home advantage, however it was the Phantoms who would take the lead on 29 minutes. Craig Scott and James Ferrara teamed up to provide Ales Padelek with the games opener.

The lead lasted under a minute as the Tigers hit back with a Joe Miller tip in from Jonathan Weavers initial shot.

The game looked to be heading into the break all square until a bizarre ending to the period. Marc Levers found himself on the breakaway and will hooked down by Phil Hill. As the buzzer sounded the fans were wondering if a penalty shot would be called, or just a straight penalty on Hill, until it was noticed that the puck was actually in the back of the net and Levers was awarded the goal.

Phantoms one goal lead, going into the final period, lasted just 27 seconds as a Sam Zajac lead attack saw the puck fall to Peter Szabo who fired low past Janis Auzins.

The goal spurred on the Tigers who controlled the majority of the play in the 3rd, but with both netminders having a strong game it was inevitable that the teams would be deadlocked after 60 minutes.

Overtime saw the Phantoms struggle toi get a touch on the puck, and on 62.05 a rocket from Max Birbraer flew into the top corner of Auzins net to give the Tigers the extra point.

Man of the Match went to Netminder Sam Gospel for the Tigers and Marc Levers for the Phantoms.
