The DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms traveled to Humberside on Saturday and finally managed to defeat the Pirates in their own barn, with a 6-1 victory.
After suffering two defeats at the Hull Arena this season, the Phantoms were determined to finally break their Hull Hoodoo on Saturday evening.
The home team started the stronger of the two sides and found themselves a goal to the good after 12 minutes when Pasi Salonen converted James Chilcotts pass to fire past Janis Auzins in the Phantoms goal.
Peterborough were level just 3 minutes later thank to Milan Baranyk and went into the first break with a 2-1 lead following a Craig Scott strike on 18 minutes.
The middle period saw both teams pushing forward but a moment of magic from Eddie Bebris was the only note on the gamesheet as his fine solo effort game the Phantoms 3-1 advantage going into the final stanza.
The Pirates struggled with the pace of the Phantoms in the final period and 2 goals in 3 minutes spelt the end of Martins Raitums game. Will Weldon make it 4-1 to the Phantoms on 50.31, quickly followed by Baranyks second of the game on 52.44. It was that goal which signalled a Pirates Timeout and a new netminder as Ash Smith found himself thrust into the spotlight.
As the clock ticked down, and with Scott Robson sitting a tripping penalty, Darius Pliskauskas made it 6-1 to the visitors with a Short handed strike in the last minute of the game.
Man of the Match went to Lee Bonner for the Pirates and Ales Padelek for the Phantoms.
