The DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms traveled to Milton Keynes on Saturday in their only fixture of the weekend.
Despite missing the influential Ales Padelek the Phantoms took an opening period lead when Darius Pliskauskas scored the opening periods only goal on 19.41.
Both teams had goals coring chances in the middle stanza with Jordan Marr, in the Lightning goal, and Janis Auzins both having to be on top of their game to deny the opposition attacks.
Lightning finally found a way past Auzins on 47.30 when Lewis Hook converted Bobby Chamberlains cross.
Lightning hit penalty trouble in the final period, but Phantoms were unable to capitalise and when the buzzer sounded it was a point a piece and onto Overtime.
Overtime saw the Lightning have a man advantage, after a Tripping call on Marc Levers late n the final period.
Lightning had the better of the possession in Overtime, and when referee signalled a Delayed Penalty on the Phantoms, Marr was quick to get off the ice to increase the Lightnings numerical advantage. With Phantoms looking to get possession of the puck it was Lightnings Jordan Cownie who fired high over Auzins shoulder to hand the victory and the extra point to the home side.
Man of the Match went to Darius Pliskauskas for the Phantoms and Jordan Marr for the Lightning.
