The DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms returned to winning ways in the League on Saturday, when they ground out a 5-3 road victory in Sheffield.

Phantoms needed under 3 minutes to open their account as Craig Scott teamed up with Milan Baranyk for the Czech to fire past Dalibor Sedlar in the Steeldogs goal.

Two goals in 4 minutes swung the advantage to the home side midway through the opening period. Lubomir Korhon drew the Steeldogs level before young Cole Shudra gave Sheffield the lead on 11 minutes.

The lead lasted just over 60 seconds before former Steeldog Edgars Bebris brought the Phantoms level and to take the game into the first break deadlocked a 2 a-piece.

The second period saw both teams struggle to string their passes together, and both netminders were spectators for large periods.

Midway through the period Milan Baranyk netted his second goal of the night to give the Phantoms the goal advantage going into the final 20 minutes.

Phantoms stepped up a gear in the final period, after being given a stern talking to by the coaching team in the break. Darius Pliskauskas scored the Phantoms 4th goal on 47 minutes before Ales Padelek rounded off the nights scoring as he helped himself to Phantoms 5th goal on 51 minutes.

With the Flames losing in Overtime on Saturday, the victory give the  Phantoms some breathing space between their rivals for the current 2nd spot in the league.

Man of the Match went to Ales Padelek for the Phantoms and Liam Kirk for the Steeldogs
