The final league game of the 2015/16 campaign saw the DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms host the Sheffield Steeldogs on Sunday evening.
Adam Long continued in goal for the Phantoms, whilst Callum Medcalf made his home debut for the club. New dad Marc Levers was given the night off alongside Cam McGiffin and Scott Robson.
With the visitors taking a liking to the Penalty Box, the Phantoms used coasted through the opening 20 minutes, keeping the Steeldogs pinned into their only half of the ice for long spells. Martins Susters scored the games opening goal on 15.25, firing home Will Weldons pass to make it 1-0 at the first break.
More penalty trouble for the Steeldogs in the second period saw the Phantoms powerplay unit finally punish them when Darius Pliskauskas doubled the Phantoms lead after 33 minutes.
Phantoms extended their lead to 3-0 just 22 seconds into the final period when James Ferrara burst through the sleeping Steeldogs to score shorthanded.
Steeldogs finally broke Adam Longs shutout on 45 minutes when Ashley Calvert found the back of the Phantoms net on a rare Steeldogs powerplay.
Lubomir Korhon brought the game back to 3-2 on 55 minutes , but despite pulling Sedlar for the closing 2 minutes, the Steeldogs couldn’t find an equalising goal and it was the Phantoms that ran out 3-2 victors.
Man of the Match went to Dalibor Sedlar for the Steeldogs and Darius Pliskauskas for the Phantoms.
