The  DALROD Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to announce dual nationality Latvian / British forward Martins Susters will be joining the Phantoms for the 2016/17 season.

The 17 year old forward, has impressed everyone over the last two seasons with his skill, size and consistent improvement.

After just returning back from an Under 18’s Latvian Nationals training camp, the talented young man looks as fit and focused than ever. Last year Martins contributed 5 goals and 10 assists for the Phantoms.

Slava Koulikov commented on Martins return “I am very pleased that Martins will be with us again next season.  From day one you could see the hunger in a young boy, who had bags of potential and set big targets for himself.

Last Summer was a big step for Martins, he worked really hard and came in to the season in great shape. It was a transition season for him, from playing junior hockey into playing senior hockey, which is a massive learning curve. He did really well, got stronger, smarter and started to push my top 9 forwards.”

Slava continues “This season Martins won’t be a young boy anymore. He will be a young man who will have more responsibility and a much bigger role. I believe with constant work that he does on and off the ice, he will be an important member of the squad”.

We spoke to Susters on his return to Phantoms  – “I am really pleased to be representing Phantoms again this season. We did great last season, but with some new blood in the team I hope we can do even better.

After speaking a lot with Slava, I am excited to be coached by him again next season, learning even more and taking on my new role within the team.
