The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms would like to introduce you to their next Summer signing of the 2016/17 campaign, British forward Owen Griffiths.

Owen joins us from the Swindon Wildcat where he had his first EPL season. Griffiths joined the GB Under 20’s in their tournament in December with Phantoms Head coach Slava Koulikov, who’s position as Assistant Coach allowed the pair to work together . Within the week long tournament Griffiths helped the team in scoring a goal and claiming the Bronze accolade for the tournament.

Head Coach Koulikov commented on Griffiths move to Phantoms –“Owen is young talented player who I got to know more at GB U20’s tournament last December.

“When I spoke with Owen after the season, he showed 100% commitment to hockey and he ticked all the boxes for what I want to see in that role I had in mind for our team next season.”

Slava continues “He reads the game well for his age, plays well at both end of the ice and has a great attitude. Again like the other guys that have signed, this is going to be an important summer for Owen, if he pushes himself out of his comfort zone and comes in ultimate physical shape, he will be where he needs to be to push the team and compete to a high standard every game.”

We spoke to Owen about his venture to Peterborough “I met Slava when we was away with the GB u20s in France, he really stood out to me as a coach. He noticed parts of the game that not a lot of people noticed, which really impressed me.

“Once I was given the opportunity to play under his coaching, I had to take the opportunity. After last season, where I didn’t play a lot, I hope with Slava’s help I want to be in a position to be able to chip in with scoring and push Peterborough to some silverware.

“I would say my speed is my greatest asset and with this I will help the team as much as I can, and I REALLY CANT WAIT !!!”
