The DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms are pleased to announce Czech Forward, Petr Stepanek will be joining us for the 2016/17 season.

The 26 year old, 6′ 5″ unit, is currently icing for the Sydney Ice Dogs in the AIHL.

Stepanek has played 8 straight seasons within the Czech 2 & 3 league. Last season Petr put up some impressive stats with 25 goals, 17 assists in just 25 games.

Head Coach Slava Koulikov commented “I would like to welcome Petr to our team. Petr is a big guy, who can skate well, is strong on the puck and has a good shot. All these qualities are important for this league.

“Last year he had a great scoring season and I hope he will continue, when he joins us in September. “

Slava continues “I am very pleased we were able to get Petr to sign for the Phantoms. I think he will do very well in the EPL, and I am looking forward to working with him.”

Stepanek also commented on his acquisition “I wanted a change, and a new hockey experience away from Czech and a different culture. Ales Padelek has given me a great reference about the Phantoms players, coaches , management and owners so Phantoms was my number one choice.”

“I will be helping Phantoms to be the best and get results. I am a big strong guy, and with the great Phantoms defence, and my scoring ability I think we are a side opponents will not like to face.”

Stepanek Continued “I am looking forward to meeting my new team mates, try a different style of hockey in the UK and find out more about England, I am So excited!”
