With games against the Guildford Flames and the Bracknell Bees in Week 8, a Shutout and a 4 point weekend were probably not what the Phantoms faithful were expecting. They definitely wouldn’t have expected the shutout game to come on Saturday when the Guildford Flames were the visitors to the Peterborough Ice Arena.

Ales Padelek opening for the scoring for the Phantoms on Saturday when his slapshot from the top of the slot flew into the top corner of the Flames goal before netminder Joonas Kuusela had a chance to move.

As two on one breakaway by the Phantoms saw Martins Susters feed a cross goal pass to the stick of Petr Stepanek to double the Phantoms tally at the first break.

The middle period saw the visitors up the intensity of the game, but it was the Phantoms who kept finding the back of the net. Petr Stepanek fired the Phantoms 3rd goal of the night on 32.03 and just 13 seconds later James White made it 4-0 to the Phantoms converting Darius Pliskauskas’s pass from behind the Flames goal.

The final period saw the Flames target Phantoms netminder Janis Auzins for some close attention, but it was Auzins who had the last laugh when his stretch pass was met by Tom Norton who found James Ferrara at the back post on 56.38 to round off a memorable night in Phantoms Hockey.

After Saturdays 5-0 home victory, the Phantoms travelled to the leagues basement boys the Bracknell Bees on Sunday.

Phantoms quickly took control of the game and were 3-0 up by the first break. James Archer opened the scoring after 3 minutes before Darius Pliskauskas made it 2-0 on 8.50.

The second period started with the Bees finally beating Janis Auzins in the Phantoms goal when David Gaborcik scored their opener on 24.10.
