Junior Phantoms Weekly Newsletter – 18th November 2016
Welcome to the Peterborough Phantoms Academy Weekly Newsletter. This is all about your club, so if you have any news you want included, just drop me an email and I’ll see what I can do. Keep it hockey related and specific to our club please.
It was a weekend free of junior hockey for the Phantoms Academy, so a group of players and parents embarked on a special shopping trip to Springfield to pick out 20 name tags from the Giving Tree located in the Home & Garden Centre.
The players selected 10 girls and 10 boys names to buy presents for, with ages ranging from just a few months old to seventeen years of age.
We hope this small act of kindness will make a huge difference to 20 children on Christmas Day.
The Phantoms Academy have already taken part in the Anna’s Hope Fun Run this year, raising over £500 for both Anna’s Hope and the club and it’s great to see our kids involved in doing even more for children less fortunate.
Well done everyone.
The senior Phantoms and Islanders were both in action over the weekend with Phantoms on the wrong end of a 6-3 scoreline at Hull Pirates, while the Islanders beat the Slough Jets 11-0 on Saturday.
The Phantoms bounced back in style on Sunday when current league leaders Telford came to town, taking the win by a scoreline of 4 to 1.

Tell us What you think of your Club
If you are a club member and have registered your email address on Team Stuff, you will have received an email asking you to rate your club on a scale between 0 and 10. There is also a box to provide feedback if you wish.
I’m please to say 60 people have already completed the survey so far. If you haven’t done it yet, don’t worry, it will remain open for another week and then I will publish the overall results of the survey.
Remember: It’s nearly time to send them Packing
Love shopping…..Hate shopping, either way, when you get to the checkout you’ve gotta pack your bags before you can be off.
So, on Saturday 26th November 2016, we are going to do just that, Pack Bags. We’re going to pack bags for as many shoppers as we can who turn up to do their grocery shopping at Tesco in Werrington.
We hope to see you there, bagging all the groceries you can, BIGGING up our sport…..and raising some money for the club.

Don’t forget, you can now get the shirt of your own back, literally.
The Phantoms Academy are selling last seasons shirts for just £8 per shirt.
Why not get your shirts from last season as a keep sake. You can use them for training, playing a bit of street hockey or even get one framed professionally to hang on the wall at home.
See your Team Manager to reserve yours.
It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas
The Phantoms Academy invite you and your family to come celebrate Christmas with a party on Friday, 2nd December 2016 at the Yaxley British Legion Club from 7pm – 11pm.
Tickets are just £5 for a family and are available from your Team Manager.
There will be a Disco on the night playing the latest tunes……and probably a few oldies as well, so put the date in your diary and join in on the fun.

What do I do?
It’s all about the club’s finances. A few months before the start of the season I produce our club budget and set the monthly fees for the season. In season, I manage the monthly member fees, liaise with Planet Ice regarding training and game ice costs, pay the bills and ensure we are going to meet our forecast budget.
Finally, I produce the accounts for the AGM, and then start all over again for the next season.
