The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms Sponsored by Smart Solutions Group, would like to put out the following statement regarding the current league situation.

The developing news surrounding the future of the PIHL is something that the Phantoms management are monitoring closely. We can confirm that owners Dave and Jo Lane did receive the same email from English Ice Hockey Association Chairman Ken Taggart as the other teams. In this email, he suggested that the remaining PIHL Teams apply to the NIHL (South) for the upcoming 2017/18 season.

The email was not expected as the owners awaited their next meeting, and continued to press ahead with the new season plans. The Phantoms will look to apply to the NIHL South, but will still be open and looking for the option to stay within the PIHL if possible.

Phantoms owners Dave & Jo Lane commented “We understand this is a turbulent time for fans across all of the leagues including the NIHL, but we will be doing our utmost to make sure Ice Hockey remains in the UK and locally. Phantoms want to compete at the highest level and pursue our team ethos in developing players to a high standard. The Phantoms are a strong and sustainable business model and have strong financial foundations, which we have built and worked hard on over the years”.

As soon as the Phantoms organisation has any news on the developing situation we will be sure to inform you with the correct and precise information. Ultimately, we will always do the best for Hockey in Peterborough and our loyal fans.
