The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms, will be saying farewell to their forever loved polar bear, PhanTom.
Today will be PhanTom’s last ever game, before he heads off into retirement. The fun loving, dancing bear, has been with the Phantoms for many years, celebrating the trophies and sobbing with the losses. But the tiring bear has decided he wants to hang his dancing paws up and head to the Artic for a well earned rest.
PhanTom, played a big part in selecting his replacement and he is sure that he is leaving his beloved fans in good hands.
Next week our new mascot will be making his first appearance, but the new team dog, sponsored by HockeyDog doesn’t have a name. HockeyDog would like to open this up to you, our fans in a naming competition. We ask entrants to email info@GoPhantoms.co.uk, or post on any of our social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat or LinkedIn) with you suggestion, with the hashtag #PhantomsMascot, by Midday Friday 15th September. All suggestions will be reviewed next Friday afternoon by a panel of players and coaching staff of the Phantoms. The winner will be announced Friday at 7pm. The winning name will win a family ticket to our opening league game against Bracknell Bees on Saturday 16th September at 7pm. We will ask you to join us at the start of the game to participate in the dropping of the DNA sponsored puck and make Phantoms history in being the first person to have your picture taken with the new mascot.
To help you with inspiration on naming our new mascot, here is a little picture of the new guy himself.
We look forward to welcoming him to our Phantoms family, as I am sure the fans will too. But today is all about PhanTom, and thanking him for his many years of service and giving him the send off he deserves.
