Peterborough Islanders

The Peterborough DALROD Islanders, are the development team between the Under18’s and the top level senior side the Peterborough DALROD Phantoms.

The Islanders history goes back to 1996 when Grant Budd Ex Peterborough Pirates Player, Carl Stripling, also an ex Peterborough Pirates Player and Julian Penczek who played a very influential role as Chairman of the Peterborough Ice Hockey Club.

Grants parents lived over in the Falkland Islanders, Where Grant himself has now resided. As support to their Son’s new venture, they became the newly formed teams Jersey sponsors and inspiration behind the name “Islanders”. The Jerseys carried the crest of the Falkland Islanders and team motto which still remains today “Desire the Right”.

The vision for the team then and now is to provide a stepping stone for young players into senior hockey. From Under 18’s to the top level that is played in Peterborough being the EPL (English Premier League) being such a jump, gives young prospecting players opportunities to develop at a senior level and catch the eyes of the senior coaches.

The Peterborough DALROD Islanders play within the English National Ice Hockey League (South) Division 2.
