The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms are pleased to announce today the first new signing for the 2014/15 season in the form of Latvian-born Edgars Bebris.
Most recently with the Sheffield Steeldogs, the EIHA-trained Bebris has played in Latvia and Belarus before returning to the UK in the 2010/11 season with the Steeldogs.
In his senior career, Eddie – as he is known to fans and team-mates alike – has made just under 300 appearances with 89 goals and a total of 202 points so far. More than two thirds of these have been in the EPIHL. As Bebris is EIHA trained, he is not classified as an import and rather a British player.
Bebris commented on his signing with the Phantoms saying “I am excited to sign for the Phantoms and look forward to helping them achieve high goals, and I will do my best to help win games. Slava tried to get me last season so I knew he wanted me. This time he finally got me!”
Peterborough DALROD Phantoms Head Coach Slava Koulikov was equally happy to have signed Bebris, saying: “I am so pleased to have signed Edgars; he is a player I tried to acquire last season whilst I was in Slough. When I heard Sheffield were not interested in keeping him on I was surprised and made the decision to act quickly.
He is a 6’4” strong forward, with good points records keeping him consistent and has a fantastic attitude. As we look to strengthen our team, Bebris is a good all-round player and will help our team improve. I look forward to working with him.”
