The DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to announce that Head Coach Slava Koulikov has been awarded the Ice Hockey Journalists UK EPL Coach of the Year 2014/15.

Ice Hockey Journalists UK (IHJUK) was created in 1984 as the British Ice Hockey Writers Association to promote the interests of the sport and its writers, photographers and broadcasters. The members of the association annual vote on the UK hockey leagues.

With the buzz mounting in the Phantoms camp, as we look to the first weekend of Play Off hockey, the achievement of Phantoms Head Coach Slava Koulikov picking up this award comes at no better time.

Commenting on his award, Slava said “It is always great to hear that my efforts and achievements with the team have been noticed, especially outside the Phantoms organisation. I am pleased to add this trophy to my cabinet and hope this is first of many as a coach.

He continued “I would like to thank all my coaching staff, my players for working hard all year and listening. As much as I am happy to win, we have some play-off games to win and I am focused on this right now.”

Head coach Koulikov, has built this year’s team from fresh. The proof has been very much in the achievements that this year’s team has produced, with the best start to a season in many years and convincingly beating League and cup winners Telford Tigers, top of the table Guildford and Basingstoke.

With Slava’s coaching career only just starting, we can only look forward to seeing what will come with more and more experience.
