The Peterborough Telegraph launched their 2015 Sports Awards yesterday, with Peterborough DALROD Phantoms being up for nomination for 5 awards.

After the teams successful year last season and a great start to this campaign, the team are delighted that their achievements are recognised by the City.

This year we are contenders in 5 are awards which are – Sportman of the Year- We have 3 of our players nominated for the award. Captain and home grown talent James Ferrara, Wall of steel Janis Auzins and quick firing Darius Pliskauskas.

Team of the Year- Phantoms phenomenal success of going from 8th position at the close of 2013/14 season to Play Off Champions 2015 in one season, has earned the Phantoms team to be nominated for Team of the Year.

Sports Personality Of the Year – A man with a huge personality on and off the ice, showed us this year, why this talented Latvian Netminder, stands between the pipes week in week out.

But we do not only have one nominee within this category, we have our tactical mastermind who has drive our team from 8th to Champions in one season, Coach Koulikov. Both gentleman need you votes to make them Personality of the Year 2015.

Coach Of the Year – Recognised last year as EPL Coach of the Year before we headed to Coventry, sees Slava Koulikov put forward for contention of the honors’ within our And lastly Unsung Hero award, sees long standing fan, sponsor, advisor and new owner Dave Lane contending for the award. Dave has been helping the junior and senior set up at the Phantoms for many years now. With changing times the hard work and dedication has been his main focus to make the future of Ice Hockey a successful one for all.

We do have two familiar face that has also been nominated for an award and although one is not currently apart of the Phantoms set up, this young lady has achieved so much as a Phantoms trained and home grown talent, which we as a club are very proud of.

Kim Lane Women’s GB and Bracknell Queen Bees player has also been recognised for her brilliant achievements within the Senior and U18’s GB team in 2015, and is a contender for Sportswomen of the Year. We hope you will all get behind Kim and help by voting for her.

Lastly, our up and coming stars. The junior set up in Peterborough is growing stronger and stronger, with the link to the senior teams more involved. Phantoms are proud, young Bradley Bowering is flying the flag for the junior Phantoms as he is also on the contenders list for Junior Sportsman of the Year. A strong core of youth development within our team will build a stronger team for our future. We hope you all get behind hard working Bradley in voting for him to be crowned Junior Sportsman of the Year.

The Junior Phantoms also have two nominees in the Junior Sportswoman category thanks to GB players Adeliade Hunt and Izzy Wallace.  Hunt, who plays in defence for the Phantoms Under 16’s, was selected for the GB Under 16’s this year. Wallce, despite being only 16, has been selected as Netminder for the GB Under 18’s team and is busy preparing for January’s World Championships.

This is a great honor for our club to be recognised in these achievements, and we ask all our fans, sponsors, players and all the people who we come into contact with to back the Phantoms in voting for us.
