Seven goals from 6 different scorers ensured it was the DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms who took the points on Sunday night.

As short benched Hull Pirates were on the back foot from the start with the Phantoms claiming a 3 goal lead before they claimed one back before the opening break.

Will Weldon opened the scoring for the Phantoms after just 2 minutes, firing past Martins Raitums in the Hull goal. Under 2 minutes later and James White reacted quickest to Darius Pliskauskas’s shot which pinged off the post and to Whites stick to make it a 2-0 game.

Craig Scott made it 3-0 on 15 minutes as Phantoms made it 3 goals from 3 different lines. Sam Towner pulled one back for the visitors shortly after to make it 3-1 at the break.

After lots of goals and no penalties in the opening period, the second saw the reverse as both teams kept the penalty boxes occupied. Milan Baranyk netted the only goal of the period on 31.19 as the Phantoms dominance of the game paid dividends.

Martins Raitums kept the score respectable denying a number of Phantoms attacks including 1-on-1 breakaways from Darius Pliskauskas and Craig Scott.

Hull changed netminders for the final period with Ash Smith replacing Raitums. It took the Phantoms just over a minute to net their 5th as Ales Padelek fired high over Smith on 41.19. The goal signalled the Phantoms change of netminder as Adam Long replaced Janis Auzins.

Darius Pliskauskas found the back of the net on 43 minutes as the Hull defence went missing leaving Smith all alone.

Phantoms final goal of the game came on 54 minutes when Milan Baranyk’s well placed shot crept in at the far post to make it 7-1.

With the clock ticking down the last goal of the game came on 58.23 when a Pirates 5-on-3 powerplay saw Dominic Osman fire past Adam Long to make the final score Phantoms 7-2 Pirates.

Man of the Match went to Sam Towner for the Pirates and James White for the Phantoms.
