The DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms enjoyed a midweek victory over the Manchester Phoenix on Wednesday with a Craig Scott hatrick helping them on their way to a 5-3 scoreline.
The Phantoms fans were still taking their seats when Scott netted his opener with just 59 seconds on the clock. The Levers, Baranyk, Scott line controlled the puck from the opening face-off and Baranyk fed the puck to Scott to fire past Stephen Fone in the Phoenix net.
Phoenix equalised through Martin Baranek on 8.14 but any hopes of the fightback lasted just 35 seconds as James White quickly re-established the Phantoms lead.
With just over 2 minutes of the opening period remaining, Craig Scott netted his second of the night sending the Phantoms into the first break 3-1 to the good.
James White scored his second of the night on 26 minutes, when the Phoenix defence let him waltz through to fire past Fone to make it 4-1. Under a minute later it was a 4-2 game as Mark Thomas redirected Robin Kovars shot past Janis Auzins.
Martin Baranek doubled his tally on 44 minutes to pull the Phoenix back to 4-3, but 2 minutes later Craig Scott completed his hatrick with the final goal of the game to give the Phantoms a 5-3 victory.
