The DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms returned to home action in style on Wednesday when they claimed a 5-1 victory over the Telford Tigers.
The game saw the Phantoms secure the runners-up spot in the English Premier League.
The opening 20 minutes saw the Phantoms dominate the play and taking a deserved lead into the first break. Milan Baranyk opened the scoring for the Phantoms after just 3 minutes before Lloyd Gibson doubled the lead midway through the 1st period.
Danny Rose pulled a goal back for the visitors on 12 minutes, but it was thanks to netminder Sam Gospel that the Tigers went into the first break just the single goal down.
The second period was a more cagey affair as the visitors looked to find a way past the resolute Phantoms defence. Andrei Makrov and Joe Miller were both causing Janis Auzins some problems in the Phantoms goal, whilst the pairing of Milan Baranyk and Craig Scott were causing problems at the other end of the ice.
The only goal of the second period came from the in-form Marc Levers to make it 3-1 at the second break.
Ales Padelek’s goal on 43 minutes gave the Phantoms the gap they needed and they sat back more in the final 20 minutes, allowing the Tigers to bring the game to them. Despite a number of attacks the visitors fell short in the last 3rd of the ice and it was left to Craig Scott to score the games last goal on 58 minutes to make it a 5-1 victory for the Phantoms.
Man of the Match went to Callum Bowley for the Tigers and Milan Baranyk for the Phantoms.
