Phantoms Academy Newsletter – 9th November 2016
Welcome to the Peterborough Phantoms Academy Weekly Newsletter. This is all about your club, so if you have any news you want included, just drop Richard Fraley an email and I’ll see what I can do. Keep it hockey related and specific to our club please.

Weekend Roundup
There was just the single junior game this past weekend with the Phantoms U11’s taking on the Haringey Hounds in a South East Division game.

Both teams had full squads and at 4:15 the puck dropped for the start of the game. Haringey gained the upper hand in the first period and both Blaise Pearce and Sasha Bravo were called upon to make early saves as Haringey created good pressure on the Peterborough net. Haringey went on to score 2 unanswered goals going into the first break and were again first out the starting blocks to add a 3rd goal in the opening shifts of the second period.

This fired up the Phantoms and at 26:13 on the clock, Archie Salisbury netted the first of his 2 goals for Peterborough. The Phantoms were on the scoreboard and added 3 more goals in quick fire succession, Matthew Saville getting the go ahead goal at 42:52 with just minutes remaining in the game.

Phantoms couldn’t hold on to their slender lead though and the win was not to be as Haringey tied the game less than a minute later.

Both teams battled hard to the end, desperately trying to get the win in an exciting, end to end game of hockey, with Peterborough outshooting their London opposition by 33 – 11.

Spirit of the Game for Peterborough went to Bailey Willis, with Archie Salisbury picking up the Man of the Match award.

Peterborough Penguins, playing in the Womens Division 1 South, made the trip to Streatham in South London and came away with a 10 – 3 win, their first of the 2016/2017 season.

Get the Shirt of your Own Back
You can now get the shirt of your own back, literally. The Phantoms Academy are selling last seasons shirts for just £8 per shirt.

Why not get your shirts from last season as a keep sake. You can use them for training, playing a bit of street hockey or even get one framed professionally to hang on the wall at home.

See your Team Manager to reserve yours.

It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas
The Phantoms Academy invite you and your family to come celebrate Christmas with a party on Friday, 2nd December 2016 at the Yaxley British Legion Club from 7pm – 11pm.

Tickets are just £5 for a family and are available from your Team Manager.

There will be a Disco on the night playing the latest tunes……and probably a few oldies as well, so put the date in your diary and join in on the fun.

Cool Looking Water Bottles
Do you want to look cool while drinking water between shifts?

Order your very own personalised water bottle in Phantoms colours from your Team Manager for just £4. You can have your name and number on a durable sticker so you don’t get yours mixed up with your team mates.

Order quickly as only the first batch will be at the discounted price.

Meet Your Committee Members
Club Secretary – Jackie Kynaston
A big part of my role as club secretary is liaising with the EIHA Youth Management Committee, ensuring important information about the leagues we play in is implemented throughout the club and any matters we are asked to contribute to by the EIHA, are submitted on time.

I attend EIHA club meetings on a regular basis (leaving home at 8am on a Sunday morning to head to places like Bracknell) and the EIHA AGM.

Other items I am tasked with are ensuring CRB checks and First Aid qualifications are current, taking minutes at committee meetings, attending dispute resolution meetings and pretty much anything else that doesn’t fall into the roles of the other committee members.

Know Someone who’s Missing Out?
If you know someone who wants to get their own weekly update, just email Richard Fraley with their email address and I’ll make sure they receive there very own newsletter.
