The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms are immensely proud and privileged to have visited Peterborough City Hospitals, Amazon Ward this morning.
Players, coaches and HockeyDog met this Christmas Eve morning at Peterborough City Hospital, to surprise the young children who will be spending Christmas in hospital.
The fans and sponsors of the Phantoms have been busy donating presents and money to the cause, enabling the players to go armed full of gifts. It really was touching to see these children smiling whilst receiving their gifts from the players. There were many children that will receive gifts, but unfortunately were too poorly, in isolation to meet the players and staff.
The staff on the ward are working tirelessly to ensure the children enjoy the Christmas Day as much as possible, and with the help of your gifts this will make it extra special.
We would like to thank the Amazon Ward for allowing us to visit the children, and to our fantastic fans for donating presents and funds to this brilliant cause. An extra special mention goes to one of our fans, Paul Young who helped the club in starting a PayPal campaign for the cause, and managed to raise a grand total of £235. With this money we had lots of fun spending in Smyths Toy Store (Boongate), where the store also gave us 10% off everything and donated a large box of lego to keep on the ward.
Lastly I would like to thank Emily Woods and Diane Scott in helping purchase the toys and wrapping the mammoth pile of toys.
The Peterborough Phantoms organisation would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.
