Peterborough Phantoms 4-2 Invicta Dynamos
Phantoms started the brighter of the two sides with Will Weldon and James White going close to opening the scoring.
After dominating large parts of the first period, Phantoms finally found the net when Darius Pliskauskas found James Ferrara out in front, and the captain made no mistake with the finish.
Pliskauskas came close to doubling Phantoms’ advantage with a shot that hit the bar. But the Dynamos went into the break the happier of the two sides, after Mason Webster pounced on a rebound to level the scores.
Phantoms regained their lead early in the second period, when Pliskauskas skated the puck from his defensive zone, beat Tommy Ralph with some neat stick work and fired past Damien King into the top corner.
Most of the game continued to be played in Phantoms’ attacking zone, with Ales Padelek and the energetic White coming close to extending the advantage.
Phantoms continued to pile on the pressure in the third period, with Glenn Billing whistling a shot inches wide of the net.
Billing was again presented with a chance after receiving a pass from Padelek, but D.King was equal to the effort.
Nathan Salem doubled Phantoms lead with just under 5 minutes remaining, capitalising on good work from Leigh Jamieson to score a tap in.
J.Ferrara extended the advantage further, but Webster netted his second of the game under a minute later to reduce the deficit back to two.
Dynamos pulled D.King for the last minute and a half, but there was no further goals and Phantoms confirmed a four point weekend!
