Peterborough Phantoms 6-2 Cardiff Fire

The Peterborough Phantoms retained their place at the top of the league with a victory over basement club Cardiff Fire. But the story of the night was 16 year old Bradley Bowering making his senior debut, and picking up two assists on his way to receiving the man of the match award!

Phantoms took the lead when Owen Griffiths found Scott Robson in plenty of space to score on the power play.

The lead was quickly doubled when Nathan Salem found a way past Jordan Lawday in the Cardiff net.

Leigh Jamieson made it three near the end of the first period, with a goal that saw Bowering pick up his first assist for the senior Phantoms team.

The vast majority of the second period was played in Phantoms’ attacking zone, but they struggled to find the back of the Cardiff net.

Darius Pliskauskas did eventually make it four with six and a half minutes left in the second period with a fine solo effort that saw him skate up ice and tuck home past Lawday.

Cardiff struck back early in the third period, when Jordan Powell’s shot bobbled past Jack Peacock and into the back of the net.

Cardiff and Powell had a second with 12 and a half minutes to go, after he stuffed the puck into the net at Peacock’s near post.

Phantoms regained their composure with ten minutes remaining, and with that regained their three goal lead thanks to Glenn Billing.

Jamieson concluded the night’s scoring with Phantoms’ sixth goal, taking an assist from James Ferrara to score on the power play.
