London Raiders 1-6 Peterborough Phantoms

The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms sealed a comfortable win in their only game of the weekend, on their first ever trip to the new Sapphire Ice Arena in Romford. Darius Pliskauskas and Owen Griffiths both scored braces for the Phantoms, as they recorded a vital two points in the NIHL1 Britton Conference.

It was the Raiders who took the lead through Sean Barry, after he collected the puck to the right of centre and fired across Euan King and into the back of the net.

But their lead didn’t last long; two quick fire Pliskauskas goals put the Phantoms ahead with just under seven minutes played.

Phantoms then went to the penalty kill, with Ales Padelek sitting a minor for illegal equipment. And seconds after killing the penalty, Tom Norton extended Phantoms’ lead to send them into the first intermission with a two goal lead.

It took just 29 seconds of the second period for Phantoms to score again, when Griffiths tipped a Robbie Ferrara blue line effort past Michael Gray in the Raiders goal.

Griffiths scored his second, and Phantoms fifth of the evening around three minutes later.

It took Phantoms just under 15 minutes of the third period to score their final goal of the evening. With Alan Lack and Marek Nahlik sitting minor penalties for the Raiders, James Ferrara picked up the goal his performance deserved, on the powerplay. An impressive performance from the Phantoms captain, who picked up a goal and three assists in the game.

Phantoms saw out their comprehensive victory, and kept up the pressure on league leaders, the Basingstoke Bison, as we enter the final stretch of the season.
