Peterborough Phantoms 4-3 London Raiders
The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms claimed a vital win in their league title chase, despite falling behind three times to the London Raiders. Leigh Jamieson was the hero for the Phantoms, ahead of tomorrow’s crucial game against the Basingstoke Bison.
Raiders took the lead with just under three minutes played when Olegs Lascenko was on hand to scramble the puck home after a defensive mix up
Phantoms equalled the score when Glenn Billing intercepted Raiders goalie Michael Gray’s clearance, and fired into the empty net to score a short handed goal.
Raiders retook the lead with six and a half minutes played of the second period, when import forward Juraj Huska found a way past Euan King.
Despite having 17 shots on the Raiders goal in the second period, the Phantoms couldn’t find a way through, and a big third period was needed to turn the scoreline in their favour.
The third period began well, when Tom Norton fired home the equaliser just 50 seconds into the third period.
But the game wasn’t level for long – Huska grabbed his second of the evening a minute later to put the Raiders in front for the third time in the game.
Captain James Ferrara levelled to scores once again, tipping home a Darius Pliskauskas blue line effort on the power play.
As the time hit 60 minutes, the scores were still tied, and a period of overtime was needed to decide the winners.
Jamieson popped up with the all important winning goal for the Phantoms in the last minute of overtime, sending the home support into delirium!
