Peterborough Phantoms 6-4 Streatham RedHawks

Despite the majority of the squad struggling with illness throughout the week, Slava Koulikov’s Peterborough DALROD Phantoms claimed a two goal victory in their final league game of the season.

The Phantoms raced into a comfortable early lead with first period goals from defenceman Tom Norton, and forwards James Ferrara and Will Weldon.

The advantage was stretched to four when Ed Knaggs found space out in front to fire past Matt Colclough and into the back of the net.

But Streatham found a route back into the game, with former Milton Keynes Lightning forward, Adam Carr, tipping home a Michael Farn shot to notch the visitors’ first goal of the evening.

Aidan Doughty struck four minutes later for the visitors, before 20 year old forward Andreas Siagris reduced the Phantoms lead to just one goal with 44 minutes played.

The comeback was complete when Doughty took a pass from Siagris to level the scores, with 12 minutes to play.

Weldon scored his second of the game with just over six minutes remaining to put the Phantoms back in front, before Owen Griffiths sealed the win with an unassisted goal, four minutes from the final buzzer.

The Phantoms now wait on the result of the game between Basingstoke and Cardiff, to see where they will finish in the league, and also to learn who they will be playing in the first round of the playoffs.
