Peterborough Phantoms 4-1 Milton Keynes Thunder
The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms will take a three goal advantage into the second leg of the NIHL1 Britton Conference Playoffs Quarter Finals following a victory over the Milton Keynes Thunder.
Thunder had the games first big chance, when Gareth O’Flaherty found himself on a breakaway after dispossessing Leigh Jamieson, but he put his shot just wide of Euan King’s goal.
Phantoms took the lead after three and a half minutes on the power play, with Ross Green sitting a cross checking minor for the visitors. It was Owen Griffiths who scored the goal, after he took a pass from Tom Norton and found the back of the net.
And it was almost two when Nathan Pollard, James White and Glenn Billing linked up, but the latter’s shot was well saved.
Nathan Salem doubled the advantage with an unassisted goal, and captain James Ferrara sent the Phantoms into the first period break with a three goal lead.
It took just under six minutes of the second period for the Phantoms to add to the scoreline. Import forward Ales Padelek found time and space in front of Tom Annetts to put daylight between the teams.
Will Weldon went close to making it five, but his shot rebounded off the mask of Annetts, before Jamieson put a golden opportunity narrowly wide of the goal.
Thunder got on the board with just over three minutes to go, when Grant McPherson found the back of the net for the visitors.
Phantoms saw out the remaining three minutes and take an important three goal lead to Milton Keynes for the second leg of the playoff quarter finals!
