Milton Keynes Thunder 2-7 Peterborough Phantoms (Aggregate Milton Keynes Thunder 3-11 Peterborough Phantoms)

The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms sealed their place in the NIHL1 Britton Conference Playoff Semi-Finals with a comfortable win over the Thunder in Milton Keynes. Phantoms will face Swindon Wildcats away on Saturday 23rd at the Link Centre and the return leg will be Sunday 24th March at Planet Ice Peterborough, 5.30PM face off.

Captain James Ferrara opened the scoring with just under three minutes played, taking an Owen Griffiths assist to score past Tom Annetts.

Czech forward Ales Padelek doubled the advantage with his first of the night, assisted by Tom Norton and Glenn Billing.

21 year old forward James White made it three with a delayed penalty goal, taking a pass from Nathan Pollard to score his first playoff goal of the year.

Thunder scored their first of the night when Grant McPherson former Phantom Tom Carlon linked up, and McPherson found the back of Euan King’s net.

Phantoms’ lead was reduced to one with 32 minutes played, when Michael Stratford netted the hosts second goal of the evening.

Leigh Jamieson is no stranger to Milton Keynes, having played numerous seasons for the Lightning before joining Phantoms, and he made it a scoring return to his old stomping ground to reinstate Phantoms two goal lead.

Padelek notched his second of the game on the power play to score Phantoms fifth, before Scott Robson added his name to the scoresheet with a goal that saw Pollard add his second assist of the night.

Nathan Salem rounded off the scoring with 33 seconds to play, and Phantoms sealed their place in next weeks NIHL1 Britton Conference Playoffs Semi-Final against the Swindon Wildcats!
