The Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms are happy to announce the re-signing of Welsh defenceman, Callum Buglass, who has also been awarded a testimonial for his commitment to the club.
Another household name of the recent era of Phantoms hockey, Buglass began his hockey career in his hometown of Cardiff, progressing through the Devils’ junior system.
The former Great Britain U18 and U20 International took his first steps into the second tier of British hockey when he signed for the Swindon Wildcats in 2014.
After three years in Swindon and a year with the Cardiff Fire, Buglass arrived in Peterborough ahead of the 2018/19 season and has remained with the club ever since.
Since then, he’s comfortably surpassed 100 points in Phantoms colours and has proven to be a reliable part of the defensive core at Planet Ice Peterborough.
And now, he’ll be returning for two more years, taking him to a testimonial earning ten years with the Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms!
“Delighted to have signed back, it was a big decision to make this summer taking in to account the birth of my daughter and demanding job away from hockey. To end last season on an injury and watching from the bench was extremely frustrating, but I can’t thank the club enough for everything they have done. I’m extremely happy to have signed for 2 years, and, to be awarded a testimonial at the end of it, I am very grateful. There’s no place I’d rather play! Hope the fans have a great summer & see you all in September!” Callum said.
And Phantoms Head Coach, Ashley Tait, said: “Callum is an integral part of this team and his signature is a massive step to keeping this d core together. He’s always calm, makes the right decisions and just comes in and gets on with it. It’s also good to see a player who has given so much for this team, for so long, awarded with a testimonial game. It’s richly deserved for his commitment to this club.”
Callum’s testimonial will take place around the end of the 2027/28 season, following the completion of his tenth year as a Phantom. More info on this will be made available closer to the time!
