The Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to confirm that captain, Luke Ferrara, has signed a three year extension with the club!

Luke, a proud Peterborian, began his career within the junior setup at the club and quickly progressed through the age groups and into the senior side.

The Great Britain International forward was part of the 2014/15 EPL Playoff winning side in the final season of his first spell with the Phantoms.

Since then, he’s iced for the Sheffield Steelers, Coventry Blaze, Bordeaux, Cracovia Krakow and the Nottingham Panthers and built an esteemed career for himself, which saw him win the EIHL, take a place in the 19/20 EIHL All-Star Team as the EIHL’s Top Scorer, collect a silver medal in Poland, and form part of the Great Britain 2017/18 World Championship D1A Gold Medal winning side.

His return to Peterborough was deemed a huge coup when he rejoined the Phantoms ahead of the 2023/24 season and he instantly became one of the key components of the team. 106 points in 54 regular season games set his side on its way to the NIHL National Playoffs - where Luke scored the winning penalty shot in the Grand Finale against Leeds.

He added 94 more regular season points last season and already has 51 so far this campaign - leading the lead in points going into Christmas.

Needless to say, everyone at the Club is absolutely delighted to have secured Luke’s services for the next three years and we’re looking forward to seeing what more we can achieve together.

Luke said the following on his three year contract extension: “Really happy to be back! I love this club and playing in my hometown and I’m excited to be back for three more years! Can’t wait to have the opportunity to win some more trophies and play in front of our fans!”

“Hope everyone has an amazing Christmas ready for a big weekend!”

Whilst Phantoms’ Head Coach, Ashley Tait, said: “Luke’s signature is a massive step for the club and shows the direction and continuity that’s needed. Finding guys with that background is not easy. He’s played at a higher level and his work ethic and coachability make him easy to work with.”

A huge welcome back to our captain, #19 Luke Ferrara, and a very Merry Christmas to the players, staff and fans of the Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms!
