We caught up with Phantoms forward Morgan Clarke-Pizzo on the season so far, his return to the Club, working with a new coach and the support of the Phantoms fans.

Morgan returned to his hometown side in the summer after spells with the Milton Keynes Lightning, Nottingham Panthers, Bristol Pitbulls, Guildford Flames and the Sheffield Steeldogs, since his previous stint at Planet Ice Peterborough.

Now 25 and with much more experience behind him, he’s enjoying being back with the Phantoms and has shown his versatility so far this term, slotting up and down the Phantoms lineup where required.

He’s also contributed on the scoring charts, with five points and six assists for 11 points in his opening 19 appearances of the season.

“I feel the season is going well so far, we have no need to panic after a couple poor performances collectively. We have proven we can win games against any team in the league and are building every day.” Morgan said.

He continued: “I’m really content being back home with the Phantoms. It’s the town I grew up and went to school in, so it’s always nice to pull the jersey over my head.”

There’s a new man at the helm of the Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms since Morgan’s last spell at the Club, and he’s enjoying working with Ashley Tait, learning his systems and leaving it all out there on game day.

“It’s refreshing to be see a new style and be working with a new coach. Things don’t always click straight away but the team identity and team ethos being built is a winning one. I hope we achieve silverware this year - we are more than capable with the depth we have. Personally, I just want to help the team win and contribute wherever I can.” Morgan said.

Morgan was a popular figure during his first spell with the club, impressing fans with his speed and enthusiasm. He’s grateful to the fans for their ongoing support, saying: “The fans have been amazing as they always have been. It’s amazing to have such a passionate fan base who stick by us through thick and thin.”

This weekend, the Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms make the long journey up to Scotland for a double header of away games against the Solway Sharks. It’s a big weekend for Morgan and his teammates, with more invaluable NIHL National Cup points on the line.

“This weekend we have two massive games for us on the road - most importantly the Saturday as they are two crucial points we need to secure to advance in the cup. If we turn up from the off and can overcome the bus legs early I’m sure we will come away with four point weekend.” Morgan concluded.
