Everyone at the Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms would like to wish defenceman Mathew Saville the best of luck as he signs for the Leeds Knights 2, after getting into his first choice of university in York.

The 18-year-old is another successful product of the Phantoms junior system, having progressed through the age groups and into the senior set up.

He’s already iced for both Phantoms and Phantoms NIHL2 on numerous occasions over the past two years, since he turned 16.

Now 18, Saville has successfully gained a place at the University of York to continue his academic studies. And with that, his contract with the Club has been paused to enable him to continue playing closer to where he’ll be living.

He’ll join up with the Leeds Knights 2 in the NIHL1 North and Phantoms have the option to sign him ahead of the 2030/31 season, following the conclusion of his degree.

Everyone at the Club would like to wish Mathew the best of luck both with his academic studies and continued hockey development - we look forward to seeing you back in Phantoms colours down the line!
