The Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms are happy to announce the signing of forward Corey McEwen, from the Milton Keynes Lightning!

The McEwen name is synonymous with Peterborough hockey, with Corey’s dad Doug having his jersey hanging on the wall at Planet Ice Peterborough. But Corey is no stranger to the club himself, having initially played junior hockey for the Phantoms back in the mid 2000’s.

After many years in Canada, Corey returned to British waters ahead of the 2015/16 season, when he signed for the Swindon Wildcats, before spending the following year in Telford.

He signed for the Phantoms in 2018/19 and notched an impressive 49 points in 38 regular season games, before following it up with 52 points in 40 games the following year.

McEwen remained with the Phantoms until the end of the 2022/23 season, when he made the short journey down the A421 to the Milton Keynes Lightning.
During his time in Milton Keynes, he grabbed 43 points in 85 regular season games.

And he now returns back home to Planet Ice Peterborough for the upcoming 2025/26 season!

Corey said the following on his return: “I'm back!”

Phantoms Head Coach, Ashley Tait, said "I’m looking forward to working with Corey as I tried to get him to Basingstoke a few years ago . He skates really well and I’ll be looking to build on that with added responsibility elsewhere."
