The SLS Peterborough Phantoms are pleased to announce the return of young homegrown forward, AJ Herring, for the 2026/27 season.

AJ played all of his junior hockey on Peterborough, impressing from a young age with an impressive points return as he rose through the age groups.

Last season, he split his time between four teams. He scored 12 goals and 11 assists in 7 games with the Phantoms U19’s, 21 goals and 16 assists in 16 games with Phantoms NIHL2, 2 goals and an assist in six games with the Widnes Wild and picked up his first senior points for the Phantoms with assists against Bristol in November & Sheffield in January.

He’s shown glimpses of his undoubted potential during his time in the senior side so far, with his free-scoring exploits for the Phantoms NIHL2 further showing his capabilities at senior level.

And now, he returns to the SLS Peterborough Phantoms for another season with his hometown club, progressing from a prospect contract into a full senior contract!

AJ said: “I’m glad to be staying with the club. It’s a good group to be around and I’ve enjoyed developing here over the last few years. I’m looking forward to another season, working hard, and seeing what we can achieve. See you in september Phantoms fans”

Whilst Head Coach, Ash Tait, said: “I think we saw some small glimpses of AJ’s potential last year. He’s got an abundance of talent, has the ability to make plays and really wants to learn. I’m really excited to see him build on last year.”

Welcome back, #16 AJ Herring!
