The Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms would like to place our heartfelt thanks and best wishes to Canadian forward, Cam Hough, who departs the club to pursue new opportunities.
The 25-year-old spent two seasons in Peterborough and firmly wrote his name into the club’s history books. Scoring more than a goal per game in both seasons here, surpassing 100 points in both seasons, breaking the NIHL National record for goals scored in a single season, he’s done the lot.
Linking up prolifically with Luke Ferrara and Janne Laakkonen for the most part, Cam’s performances have delighted fans over his two years here in Peterborough.
Naturally, everyone at the club was desperate to see Cam return to Planet Ice Peterborough for 2026/27 and considerable efforts were made to bring Cam back again, but ultimately the chances offered to him have proven too good to turn down.
Whilst it’s sad to see a player of Cam’s calibre and ability depart, it’s also important to be happy about what he brought to our club on and off the ice. We’re sure all of our fans will join us in wishing all the very best to Cam and his wife Grace in the next steps in their lives in-and-out of hockey.
Cam gave us this message for the club and its fans upon his decision to move on:
“After a lot of thought, I have made the decision not to return to the NIHL next season and pursue other opportunities. This wasn’t an easy decision for me because the last 2 years I have made countless memories and friendships.
From day one, you have all shown me tremendous support. Playing in-front of this fan base is something I will never forget. The energy, noise, and passion you all bring to the rink is what made this place different from everywhere else, undoubtedly the best fans in the NIHL.
I would like to say thank you to my coaches, teammates, staff, and everyone behind the scenes that made this place feel like home to me for the past 2 years.
I’ll carry the friendships, memories, and fan interactions with me for the rest of my life.
Thank you for everything!
Cameron Hough”
Recruitment is well underway to fill the spot vacated by Cam and the club aim to continue bringing the fans more exciting player signing announcements as the summer progresses. Keep an eye on our social media for the news as we continue to prepare for 2026/27!
