The Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms came back from three goals down, but were narrowly beaten by the Telford Tigers, who benefitted from two late penalty calls to claim both points.
The visitors took the lead early when David Thomson danced around his marker and beat Hayden Lavigne short side.
Gloves were then dropped as Joe Gretton and Kyle Ferguson went toe-to-toe, with both receiving five minutes for fighting.
Telford doubled their lead with 14:26 played - Thomson again finding the back of the net after the away side had worked the puck around the zone well to free up the danger man in the middle.
And they made it three just under a minute later when Caelan McPhee cut through the right circle and lifted his shot into the roof of the net
Phantoms upped the tempo in the second period and went close with a Luke Ferrara effort which went just wide, before Dillon Lawrence produced a big save from Brad Day with a one timer.
It was Lawrence who put Phantoms on the board, though, with an unstoppable one timer into the top corner - a goal which saw Ferrara pick up his 100th point of the season.
The Tigers restored their three goal lead at 34:49 when Scott McKenzie played Patrick Brown into space and his shot beat the glove of Lavigne.
An eventful third period saw Phantoms reduce the deficit once again through a Ferrara effort which was slung into the top corner from the middle of the offensive zone.
They got back to within one at 50:37 when Janne Laakkonen pounced on a rebound from a Tom Norton blue liner.
And Laakkonen levelled the scores on the same shift when he swung at a loose puck, which looped over the shoulder of Brad Day and into the Tigers’ net.
Phantoms thought they’d completed the turnaround with around five minutes to play as Zaine McKenzie tapped in on the back post, but his effort was ruled out for an alleged kicking motion.
Phantoms were then penalised twice in the closing three minutes as holding the stick and tripping calls were made against Gretton and Lavigne respectively.
And the Tigers capitalised with 2:01 to play as Thomson completed his hat-trick to ensure both points would return to Shropshire.
