The Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms completed a four point weekend with another late leveller, before beating the Telford Tigers in a shootout.

A second Brad Bowering 6-on-5 equaliser in as many nights sent the Phantoms on their way to another penalty shootout, and Ashley Tait’s side followed up Friday night’s shootout win in Sheffield with another over the Tigers.

They didn’t have it all their own way by any stretch of the imagination - Telford came into the game in good form themselves, and took the lead through a Harry Ferguson tap in at 5:52.

And Tom Watkins’ side almost struck again, but were denied by some heroic defending by Bowering to deny the shot on goal.

Phantoms drew level when Jasper Foster escaped the attention of Ferguson and finish well after being found on the back post by Louie Kynaston.

Telford continued to threaten throughout and called Lavigne into action again when they broke 2-on-0, but found the Phantoms’ stopper in good form as he leapt across to make the save.

They hit the front in the first minute of the second period when Eric Henderson chased a loose puck into the zone and set it back for Brynley Capps to sweep into the net.

But Cam Hough was playing every shift with serious determination and it was the Canadian who levelled the scores, tapping home out in front from a Luke Ferrara blue liner.

The visitors continued to show why they began their season with wins over Leeds and Milton Keynes, though, as Ferguson picked up his second of the game from in close to put them back in front again.

And they doubled their advantage with 47:02 played, when Scott McKenzie picked up the pieces out in front to apply the finishing touch to the Tigers’ fourth of the evening.

But then the late late show began once again as Foster slapped a great shot into the top corner after more tenacious work from Hough with 56:49 on the clock.

For the second night in a row, Phantoms pulled Hayden Lavigne to go 6-on-5 in the closing stages and also for the second night in a row, it was Bowering who found the back of the net to send the game into overtime.

The overtime period was end to end, with both sides creating some openings, but the game was ultimately decided on penalty shots.
