The Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms completed their pre-season schedule with a second comfortable win over the Romford Raiders in as many nights.
Phantoms almost took the lead in the opening minute when Dillon Lawrence and Luke Ferrara linked up, but it was the Raiders who had the best chance of the opening exchanges when Brandon Ayliffe broke through, only to be denied by Hayden Lavigne.
And they were instantly made to pay for the breakaway miss as Phantoms broke the other way and Ferrara found Laakkonen on the back door, where the Finnish forward struck his one timer beyond Cole Ceci and into the back of the net.
They doubled their lead with a shorthanded marker, as Morgan Clarke-Pizzo won the puck back at centre ice and broke into the zone, before finding Louie Kynaston out in front, who controlled the puck and finished expertly.
The second period saw fewer big chances for either side, but Ceci had to stand tall to deny Laakkonen, Nic Martin and Jasper Foster before the mid-way point.
Luke Clark replaced Hayden Lavigne in the Phantoms goal with 10:09 to play in the second period.
The Raiders grabbed their only goal of the game moments later when Ayliffe broke away again and this time, made no mistake with his finish.
It was clear Phantoms had further gears to shift into and they did so after the second intermission - with Ferrara notching a lovely finish after a good pass from Lawrence just 34 seconds into the third period.
Cam Hough added his name to the scoresheet four minutes later when he broke in close and squeezed his shot between Ceci and the post.
And the scoring was rounded off at 51:52 when Lawrence picked up the goal his performance had merited, adding to his Saturday night hat-trick.
