The Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms were the victims of a third period fightback from Neuilly-sur-Marne, as the French side scored four unanswered goals to take the win.
It quickly turned into a battle between two sides who were facing each other for the second night in a row as Phantoms found themselves on the penalty kill after just over a minute.
But after killing the penalty, Nic Martin put Ashley Tait’s side in front when he found space to the left of goal and finished well past Robin Mallet.
Les Bisons drew level with another powerplay, as Pierre Chauvel sniped a great shot in off the pipes.
Phantoms hit back nine seconds later to restore their lead, with Ralfs Circenis notching his first goal since returning to the Club.
And they stretched their lead to three when a rare powerplay chance was converted by Janne Lakkonen from the right circle, after a good feed by Dillon Lawrence.
Lawrence then notched his first goal as a member of the Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms when he took a Luke Ferrara pass and buried his first time finish.
But the lead was cut back down to two when Derek Raposo found a way past Hayden Lavigne on another Les Bisons powerplay.
Ryan Bainborough then took to the ice for his first appearance since returning to the Club in the summer, replacing Lavigne in the Phantoms net.
He was called into action straight away, making two smart stops in a matter of minutes to keep the Phantoms two ahead.
But Les Bisons got back to within one when Raposo notched his second powerplay goal of the evening.
And after a string of good stops by Bainborough, the French side drew level again through Chauvel, who redirected Noah Wendling’s blue line effort into the net.
And the turnaround was complete when Les Bisons were given another powerplay chance and Valentin Mallet fired through traffic and into the far corner from the right circle.
Phantoms had the puck in the net at the buzzer, but the decision went against them, as the referee signalled no goal.
