The Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms are pleased to announce the signing of Scottish forward, Flynn Massie, to a two year deal. The 18-year-old will spend the first year of his deal on a two-way with the Widnes Wild.
Despite his age, Massie brings presence to the ice, standing at 6ft 3, and can play as a forward and defenceman.
The Scot began his junior career with the North Ayrshire Predators, Devils and Wild, making his first steps into senior hockey with the North Ayrshire Wild in 2023/24. He posted 19 points in 22 games in the Scottish National League, whilst also notching a further five points in 12 games for the Widnes Wild in the NIHL1 North.
Last season, he played 26 times for the Löwen Frankfurt U20 side, scoring seven points, before splitting the remainder of his season with Widnes’ U18’s, the Wild senior side and Solway Sharks U19’s. He scored 12 points in 13 games for the Wild last season.
And now, he’ll be linking up with the Phantoms on a two-way agreement with the Wild, taking the next step in his development through the leagues.
Massie said: “I’m really excited to get started with the Phantoms. It is a great opportunity for me to develop and get experience in the NIHL and the NIHL1. This is a stepping point in my hockey career and I can’t wait to get started!”
Whilst Head Coach, Ashley Tait, said: “Flynn is a player who comes highly recommended. He has good size for his age and has the versatility to play in both forward and defensive positions. He’s another good addition to our roster and he’ll benefit from playing in our team, along with the minutes he’ll play for Widnes.”
