The second weekend of pre-season is upon as the Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms get set to face the Romford Raiders in a double header.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
It’s been a busy summer down in Romford who, like Phantoms, had a change of Head Coach during the off-season. A name very familiar to Phantoms fans - Jason Buckman is now the man at the helm at the Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre.
And with the coaching change, the team has seen some changes, with several new faces set to take on the Phantoms for the first time this weekend.
Ethan James’ departure and transition into coaching led the Raiders to sign import goalie, Cole Ceci, and Canadian defenceman Jarrett Baker, both new names to the league this year.
TEAM NEWS
Phantoms will likely name a similar roster to the one which faced Neuilly-sur-Marne last weekend, but AJ Herring will be with the Phantoms’ NIHL2 side to aid his ongoing development with increased ice time.
Connor Glossop will feature again, whilst Luke Clark is due to join Hayden Lavigne in the netminding department of the Phantoms roster for both games this weekend.
Despite a few new faces, the Raiders have a large amount of their regular faces back for 2025/26. Jake Sylvester is always one to watch, joined by the likes of Brandon Ayliffe, Adam Laighram and Tjay Anderson.
ONE TO WATCH
Shaun Miller enjoyed an excellent season in Romford last year and the Canadian forward has returned for a second season with the Club. The 26-year-old notched 42 goals and 54 assists for 96 points in 46 regular season games last season and is always a threat when he’s on the ice.
