Your Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms begin their weekend with a Friday night clash in Sheffield, before welcoming the Telford Tigers to Planet Ice Peterborough on Saturday night.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
The Sheffield Steeldogs have made some big changes over the summer, some the Phantoms fans will certainly be aware of. Phantoms legend, Slava Koulikov, is now at the helm at IceSheffield, and has brought several new players to the organisation as they look to press for silverware this year.
There was an air of inevitability about Sam Tremblay’s full time signing with the EIHL Steelers, whilst Sam Cooper, Tom Barry, Ben Norton, Elmeri Hällfors, Charlie Thompson, Henry Adams and Tate Shudra also departed. Morgan Clarke-Pizzo moved to Phantoms from Sheffield over the summer.
The Telford Tigers have once again gone with as much continuity as they could, with the majority of their regular lineup remaining for another year. Adam Harding, Lucas Price, Finley Howells and Edgars Landsbergs departed, whilst Ben Norton, Henri Kohvakka, Tate Shudra, Tyler Somerton, James Mather and Kyle Ferguson have all joined the Brit pack. Patrick Brown and Calean McPhee have joined Eric Henderson and David Thomson in their import group.
TEAM NEWS
Richard Hartmann goes straight back into the Phantoms lineup after his two-way signing with the Fife Flyers. Nathan Salem is a long term absentee.
The Steeldogs are likely to be at full strength. All of their two-way Steelers are expected to be available, with the Elite League side not in action until Saturday night.
The Tigers are also expected to be at full strength, including young forward Brynley Capps, who was a late two-way addition to their roster ahead of the opening weekend.
ONE TO WATCH
Steeldogs - Bair Gendunov has enjoyed a good start to his time in Sheffield. Steeldogs Head Coach, Slava Koulikov, has been a long term admirer of the Canadian forward and signed the 25-year-old in the summer.
Tigers - Brynley Capps is one of the highest rated young Brits in the UK and recently signed for the Tigers on a two-way with the Coventry Blaze.
