The Swindon Wildcats play hosts to your Wendy’s Peterborough Phantoms on Saturday night, before the Solway Sharks visit Planet Ice Peterborough for the first time this season on Sunday night.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
The Swindon Wildcats got straight back on track after losing in overtime to the Phantoms a couple of weeks ago.
They registered 5-2 and 2-0 wins over Sheffield and Basingstoke respectively last weekend, as they extended their early season lead at the top of the NIHL National table.
The Solway Sharks have picked up one win from their opening seven games and come into the weekend at the bottom of the table.
The Scottish side lost the services of high scoring imports Nolan Gardiner and John Dunbar over the summer, but did pick up a couple of high end Brits in Jordan Buesa, Carter Hamill and former Phantom - Duncan Speirs.
TEAM NEWS
Phantoms will be without the services of Brad Bowering once again this weekend as he remains suspended, whilst Nathan Salem had remains a long term absentee after having surgery this week.
Alex Rushby could also make his first appearance as a Phantom this weekend.
Swindon are expected to be close to full strength for the visit of Ashley Tait’s Phantoms, with several former Phantoms in the lineup. Glenn Billing, Eddie Bebris, Owen Griffiths are all likely to play, whilst Luc Johnson is also on the Wildcats’ roster again this season.
The Solway Sharks could also be full strength for their trip to Peterborough, which follows a Saturday night trip down to Basingstoke. Jordan Marr could get the nod in net for the Sharks, which would once again put him against his former side.
ONE TO WATCH
Wildcats moved Eddie Bebris back into the forward line for this season, after utilising his defensive skills over the past couple of years. No stranger to Peterborough, Eddie has a shot and a good eye for a pass, which makes him a threat in every game he plays.
For the Solway Sharks, Canadian forward Dylan Stewart has enjoyed a good start to his life as a Shark. Six goals and four assists for ten points in seven games means he’s contributed to over half of his side’s total goal tally for the season prior to this weekend (19 GF).
COACHES CORNER
“I think it’s important we respond well from a game where we had the opportunity to get something and didn’t take it. Swindon isn’t a forgiving place if you aren’t ready so we need to make sure we are.” - Ashley Tait
