The Waldeck Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to welcome back, your captain for the 23/24 season!

Captain Will Weldon will return for his 12th season with the club and his third season as Captain!

The 30-year-old joined the Phantoms ahead of the 2011/12 season after spending the entirety of the early days of his career in his hometown of Nottingham. He featured for the Nottingham Cougars, Lynx, Leopards and the Lions, whilst also making a handful of appearances for the Nottingham Panthers in the Elite League.

He quickly became a fan favourite in Peterborough and is a hugely popular character in the locker room. Will has played 544 games in a Phantoms jersey scoring over 300 points in that time!

Head Coach Slava Koulikov commented “Welds was instrumental in our run up to the Cup success last season! Big players are for big games and that’s exactly what Welds did, he raised his game to the next level and lead the team through our semi-final and final games! A huge 3 goals in those games, solid on the face-offs, unbelievable on the PK and his speech between the 2nd and 3rd period in Leeds was true leadership! That gives the guys the belief to succeed! Welds proved to be a great Captain for players and myself, one who knows what it take for the group to be a winning team and helped me a lot throughout the season! I really appreciate and respect Welds’ leadership, commitment, drive for success and I am really happy to continue our on and off ice relationship next season!”

Captain Will Weldon commented “ I am really pleased to have signed for another season back in Peterborough on the back of a really successful season last year. Peterborough is the only place is want to be and I am looking forward to getting going in September and hope to be in the hunt for more silverware! See you all soon.”

Welcome back Welds!
