The Waldeck Peterborough Phantoms’ first period display helped them on their way to another four point weekend.
Phantoms hit the front with just over a minute played, as Lukas Sladkovsky netted again against his former side. He was sprung on a breakaway by Brad Bowering and went backhand, forehand, before firing past Ethan James.
The scores were tied moments later, though, as Phantoms were dispossessed near their own goal, allowing Brandon Ayliffe to find Tommy Huggett for a simple finish.
But Ales Padelek notched Phantoms goal number 201 just 19 seconds later to put Slava’s side back in front.
And Bowering extended the Phantoms’ lead with 7:58 played, forcing the puck home in a goalmouth scramble.
Corey McEwen was the next to add his name to the scoresheet, as he took a pass from Bowering to finish well into the top corner.
And when Glenn Billing made it 5-1 less than 30 seconds later, Brad Windebank replaced Ethan James in the Raiders goal.
Ryan Bainborough replaced Jordan Marr in the Phantoms goal at the start of the second period.
Raiders opened the second period scoring, as Ashley Jackson pulled a pass back to Erik Piatak, who ripped his shot into the bottom corner.
But the Phantoms answered back again as Bowering grabbed his second of the night. This time, he redirected Jasper Foster’s blue line effort beyond WIndebank and into the net.
The third period’s first big moment was a fight, as Joe Gretton went toe-to-toe with Aaron Connolly. Gretton with a quick takedown in that one.
And the Raiders opened the period’s scoring, as Harry Gulliver converted from close range after a good centring pass by Jake Sylvester.
Brandon Ayliffe reduced the arrears back to two goals with just over five minutes to play, threatening a late comeback from the visiting Raiders, with an effort which looped over the shoulder of Bainborough.
But Nathan Pollard sealed the win once and for all in the closing seconds with an empty net goal.
