The Peterborough Phantoms fell to a narrow defeat in a high scoring pre-season fixture against the Raiders.

The game didn’t get off to the start the Phantoms would’ve wanted, as they turned the puck over on their own blue line, allowing Tom Relf to tee up Mikey Power for the opener.

And it was Power who doubled the Raiders’ lead, finding space in the middle of the zone to fire past Jordan Marr.

Phantoms did pull one back before the end of the period, though, as Lukas Sladkovsky netted his first goal for the club against his former side.

And the scores were levelled early in the second, as Callum Buglass fired a blue line effort past Ethan James.

But they weren’t level for long, as Power completed his hat trick, before Jake Sylvester extended their two goal advantage on 23:59.

Nathan Pollard reduced the arrears again, finishing smartly through the five hole after getting in on a shorthanded breakaway, only to see Brandon Ayliffe skate in and score past Marr after dispossessing Scott Robson on the blue line.

Jasper Foster made it a one goal game yet again, before Sladkovsky and Tom Norton linked up well to set Ralfs Circenis up for his first Phantoms goal, a ripper into the top corner.

After a frantic second period, the third took a while to get going. Corey McEwen and Duncan Speirs went close for the Phantoms, whilst Aaron Connolly saw two efforts in quick succession go amiss for the visitors.

Former Phantom Erik Piatak scored the lone goal of the third, by skating around the net, back out in front and ripping his effort home.

The score at the end of the 60 minutes was 6-5 to the Raiders, but a period of overtime was played to enable both teams to practice in a period of bonus hockey.

Glenn Billing scored the overtime goal, assisted by Norton, but the Raiders took the result in the 60 minutes of hockey.
