The Waldeck Peterborough Phantoms suffered defeat to the Swindon Wildcats on Sunday evening.

Whilst the first goal took some time to come, the chances were flowing for both sides. Renny Marr made the first big save, denying Lukas Sladkovsky’s slap shot.

Jordan Marr then answered his brother with a good stop of his own, seeing the puck well and making the save under pressure from Aaron Nell in close.

Ralfs Circenis then went in on a breakaway after a good steal by Brad Bowering, but R Marr spread himself well to make the save.

And the Cats took the lead into the intermission as Reed Sayers found space out in front to beat J Marr from in close for the period’s only goal.

Phantoms continued to push at the start of the second but continued to find R Marr in good form. When Scott Robson’s shot was blocked, Martins Susters let fly, but saw his effort stopped.

But the Swindon threat remained and it was the Wildcats who struck the second goal of the night. When Jamie Smith sprung Eddie Bebris down the right wing, he centred for Chris Jones to redirect past J Marr and into the net.

After failing to convert on an early third period powerplay, Brad Bowering ripped an effort into the top corner from the blue line to put the Phantoms back to within one.

But the Cats retook the two goal lead in controversial fashion as Sam Bullas found the back of the net, Phantoms felt the net was off its moorings, but Kris Wells gave the goal.

And they made it 4-1 just seconds later, Tomasz Malasinski adding his name to the scoresheet with an unassisted goal.
